2020 has been a year that has created a lot unrest in whole world. Such uncertain times and we could see mask and sanitizers everywhere. Our daily routine life has come to a standstill and here we are waiting for the vaccine.
If you are pregnant in 2020, then your most precious time of your life can turn in to the time of fear and anxiety if you dont take care of your mental & spiritual health along with your physical health. Here are 5 easy tips that I followed during my pregnancy in covid times and have benefited me immensely.
1. Do not Panic instead do meditation –
Practicing Meditation and connecting to the divine has helped me a lot to keep my fear and anxiety at the bay. Buy a subscription for any Meditation app like Sattva app or Thinkright.me ( I use both of them, they have some amazing set of meditation commentries ). Doing this practice daily and religiously in the morning after you wake up and before you sleep this will increase your feel good hormones in your body and so it will benefit your baby to be calm and healthy baby. It will also be immensely helpful you to develop a great bond with your baby while he/she is still in the womb.
2. Cut down on your negative screen time –
Yes, you read it right. Now since many of us are working from home, some are working at home. We tend to take an extra dose of screen through our smartphone and TV. Here I am not suggesting to watch less or dont watch TV and social media at all. Here I mean to say is dont keep a track of how many cases have increased by constantly searching for it and watching news every now & then which will show you nothing but negativity around adding to your anxiety and fear. Instead you can follow the pages of your interest and passion on social media so that you will get an extra boost of your interest without cutting on your screentime.
3. Read your favourite books, also try new one.
Reading a good book at this time can become strong pillar of support. I have read 10 books from March till today and my favourites are Shriman Yogi by Ranjit Desai, Reflections by Swami Vivekananda, Magical Beginnings enchanted lives by Deepak Chopra, The Calling by Priya kumar. You can buy any book of your choice and read. This will also inculcate the habit of reading in your baby (that’s what they say in garbha sanskar classes).
4. Go for online Garbha Sanskar –
Garbha sanskar is old tradition in India which in earlier times many women use to follow. We all know the Story of Abhimanyu who learnt many things in his mother’s womb. Try giving values to your child while he/she is still in the womb. I have bought a virtue baby kit by Dr Nikita Sobti which includes a memory scrap book (wherein you record your pregnancy and post pregnancy milestones), virtue baby story book ( stories associated with 40 virtues which i would like to inculcate in my child) and a womb conversation book (it has letters that Mumma and baby can share and develop a beautiful strong bond with each other)
5. Exercise Daily –
You can go for any exercise which your doctor would recommend. I personally do pregnancy yoga which includes kegel exercise, some pelvic floor exercises, few stretching and deep breathing exercises. This will be beneficial to calm you and at the time of your labour for a smooth delivery experience.
I wish you a very healthy and happy journey of Pregnancy and motherhood. When there are so many positive things to focus on lets not get distracted by corona negativity in the air. This too shall pass very soon.
